The New Petrisberg and above all Trier's WIP Science Park are closely linked with Trier's universities and colleges. Together with the WIP Science Park, the university's main campus I and campus II form a research, science and entrepreneurial unit whereby the WIP Science Park forms the interface between universities, business and industry in the region. The universities offer great potential in respect of highly qualified workers from which the enterprises in the WIP Science Park and the region benefit.

Accordingly the construction of the student residential facility on the New Petrisberg represents a logical and sensible extension of the successful Petrisberg development.
